‘Who dares attack the steed of The Huntsman?’ – Attumen the Huntsman
This is part one of my short Resto-Shaman guides to Karazhan. These guides are designed with the Resto-Shaman in mind, but may be benefical for any healers. These guides are a short, bulleted overview of each Karazhan encounter allowing the Shaman to understand their roll in the raid.
Welcome to Karazhan. This begins your path to the realm of WoW known as “the end game”. This path will be difficult, but if you are up to the challenge, the rewards will be un-matched. My goal is to make your first steps into raiding as painless as possibly by sharing the tactics I have learned by both research and experience.
The first boss you will face in Karazhan will be Attumen the Huntsman. He resides in the stables with his mount, midnight. This fight, as well as the trash leading to him will be your raid’s first gear check. If you can defeat Attumen you are free to continue on; if not, your group may not be ready for Karazhan.
Clearing the trash: Spectral Stallion/Spectral Charger
Earth Shield:
· Main or off tank; normally the one who has less total hp. This will help a little bit when healing…not much bet ever little bit helps
Totems:
· Totems will be dictated by your group’s make up. Drop specific totems if you are in a caster or tank/melee group.
· Tremor Totem to counteract the Charger’s Howl of Terror (Fear).
Healing:
· Nothing too specific, just make sure to heal your assigned tank.
Misc:
· The Stallion’s buff from Absorb Vitality can be purged.
· Stay close, the Chargers will charge and knock down the farthest raid member.
Boss: Midnight/Attumen
When you arrive at the stable, you will only see Attumen’s mount, Midnight. He will not agro until engaged, so use this time to restore your mana and assign tanks to both Midnight and Attunmen when he spawns.
Earth Shield:
· Earth shield the tank assigned to Midnight initially.
· Earth shield the tank assigned to Attumen when he spawns.
Totems:
· Totems will be dictated by your group’s make up. Drop specific totems if you are in a caster or tank/melee group.
Healing:
· Nothing too specific, just make sure to heal your assigned tank.
Blood Lust:
· Blood Lust when Attumen/Midnight is at 25%.
Misc:
· When Attumen and Midnight combine hold off heals for a few moments to let the tank generate agro.
· Everyone stacks on top of each other behind Attunmen/Midnight to avoid his charge.
· If heals are not needed, add to dps with lighting bolts and your fire elemental.

This is a noob question.. but I am a noob, so…
What of Healing Stream or Mana Spring totem would you use on this fight (and others)? Is it fight dependent or do you use the same one all the time?
I find HS is good if some small damage is going on to the whole party, but I suspect MS might be more useful for long fights to avoid going OOM?
I’m studying these guides intently as I am close to stepping into Karazhan… ulp. They are really good so thanks.

This is a very good question. Healing stream is good for negating small amounts of damage taken by your group, but like most raids, Kara mobs deal out a lot of big burst damage which healing stream will have little to no affect on. It is always best to drop mana stream to aide in your mana regen, especially being a resto shaman.
The only time I have ever used healing stream in Kara is during the Netherspite encounter. If you take 3 to 5 ticks of the green beam your bonus healing gets a huge increase. This allows your healing stream to do about 400 to 500 hp a tick which healps negate the raid wide damage that everyone takes during this fight.
